RAIPUR: A 31-year-old man, suspected of stabbing Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, has been arrested by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) at Durg railway station in Chhattisgarh, officials announced.

The 54-year-old actor was assaulted multiple times by an intruder during a robbery attempt at his 12th-floor apartment in Mumbai’s Bandra locality early Thursday morning. Medical professionals treating Khan have confirmed that he is recovering steadily from his injuries.

The suspect, identified as Aakash Kailash Kannojia, was reportedly traveling on the Jnaneshwari Express, a train running between Mumbai Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) and Kolkata Shalimar.

At approximately 12:30 PM, Mumbai Police informed the RPF that Kannojia, believed to be connected to the stabbing, was aboard the Jnaneshwari Express (Train No. 12101). Along with the alert, they provided the suspect’s mobile phone tower location and a photograph for identification purposes.

Acting on the information, the RPF alerted their team at Rajnandgaon station, located along the Mumbai-Howrah route before Durg. Despite efforts, the suspect was not found there, prompting officials to position two teams at Durg station.

Upon the train’s arrival at Durg, the suspect was identified using the photograph shared by Mumbai Police and taken into custody. He was escorted to the RPF Post in Durg for further questioning. Mumbai Police have been informed and are expected to arrive in Raipur by air later in the evening. They will then proceed to Durg to take custody of Kannojia and continue the investigation.

Sources indicate that the suspect was traveling in the general coach situated directly behind the locomotive.

The case remains under active investigation, with additional updates anticipated as inquiries progress.
